The CDVCA Peer Group is a by-invitation-only meeting of leaders in the Community Development Venture Capital industry and offers an opportunity to interact with and learn from each other, share experiences, discuss co-investment opportunities, and, most of all, build professional and personal relationships that continue and grow throughout the year.
This year’s meeting will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, beginning with dinner on Wednesday, January 29th, and ending with lunch on Friday, January 31st. We will also plan an activity for the evening of the 30th. This year, we will again hold our meeting at the beautiful and historic El Convento Hotel in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The Peer Group meeting has a simple but valuable format and is entirely member-led. At the beginning of the meeting, we will spend about an hour as a group building the agenda for the rest of the meeting. Topics have ranged from the practical, such as methods to generate deal flow and investment terms, to bigger picture themes, such as ways to position the industry for future growth, engaging new LPs, and investing in minority and other underinvested communities. We are fortunate to have John Weiser of the consulting firm BWB Solutions as our facilitator again this year. In addition to the facilitated sessions, we will structure ample time for socializing and getting to know one another.
We ask those participants who wish to do so to bring a problem or an issue with which they are currently grappling and which they would like to share with the group. At several points during the meeting, we will turn to those problems to get feedback from the group.

There is a registration fee of $700 per participant to partially offset event costs, such as the meeting room and facilitator, meals, and organizing expenses. There is a room block available to registered attendees at Hotel El Convento.
