CDVCA’s Kerwin Tesdell and Julian Wood attended the CDFI Institute, the annual conference of the CDFI Coalition, in Washington, DC on March 15 & 16, 2023. The Coalition is the advocacy organization for the CDFI industry, including community development venture capital funds. Participants attended panels featuring agency heads and congressional staffers discussing both the practical and the political sides of various government programs important to the CDVC industry. Kerwin moderated a panel on the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, recently created by the Inflation Reduction Act, which will provide $27 billion of grant funding for financing that reduces greenhouse gases, with a stated focus on low income communities and communities of color. This will potentially be a significant source of new capital for the CDVC and CDFI industries. Materials from the conference found here.
